I get these tingles every time I am watching a
Cirque du Soleil show. I guess they are tingles of inspiration and happiness, I get them when I see a mesmerizing experience (which does not happened too often) mostly when I watch a Cirque show (Other memorable tingle moments - my four Madonna concerts I've attended). I have seen
Dralion, Varekai, Quidam as a travelling show in San Diego. In Las Vegas, I have seen O, Zumanity and also have had the privilege of seeing Ka twice. Cirque's Las Vegas shows are big budget productions, the stages are multi-faceted and synergize along with the performers designed to awe and delight the audience.
Last weekend while in Las Vegas, I had the chance to see LOVE, which is based on the songs of the Beatles. I am already a big fan of the Beatles but I have to say Cirque combined with Beatles songs equals magic. Great use of props for interaction, not long after the show started confetti dropped from the ceiling and half way into the show a theatre-sized parachute cascaded on to the audience with a fluid like movement starting from the center of the theatre moving towards the ends. The lights shimmering on the white parachute material created a cloud-like effect, and the natural response was to put our hands up as the nylon rippled though the our fingers. Each song was like a different act and the lighting, props and clips broadcasted on the huge screen accentuated the show. I think I appreciated LOVE a lot more since reading
The Spark which is
an inspiring tale about the power and creativity from Cirque du Soleil, created by Lyn Heward and written by John U. Bacon. From the book, I learned the behind the scene challenges and hard work that each performer puts into their show. From this knowledge, I could really see the passion in the performers faces and knew they were there to fulfill their dreams and make us happy (they do love to see the audience light up).
